The Sum of Sacrifices: The Newly Proclaimed CPAs’ Journey Towards Success
A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. - Colin Powell To become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)—that was the goal, a dream that once was dreamed and now as surreal as it may seem, has turned into reality. 46 students that once wandered through the maze of self-doubt, challenges and exhaustion now serves as living testaments of perseverance, hardwork and dedication as they add up to the growing list of CPAs produced by the University of Mindanao. Through long nights of review, countless sacrifices, and an unyielding belief in their capabilities, these newly licensed CPAs have proven that success is born from discipline, dedication, and hard work. This achievement stands as a shining testament that success does not happen overnight—it is built from every study session that ends until dawn, every challenges that was conquered, and every moment that they chose to stay and fight for that title—for that future, that is now within their grasp. Among those who shared their inspiring stories is Narels Jay Tradio, whose journey was marked by fear, faith, and unwavering resolve. “Before taking the CPA Licensure Exam, I was filled with doubt and fear,” Narels admitted. “I knew I didn’t have as much time to review as others, and that thought constantly made me question if I was truly ready. But deep inside, I knew I had a dream to chase, a dream I couldn’t give up on.” Despite his uncertainties, Narels pushed forward, trusting himself and holding on to his purpose. “I chose to face my fears, trust myself, give it everything I had, and remind myself that I was already halfway there and brave enough the moment I decided to take the CPALE,” he said. When the results were released, the moment became unforgettable. “When I finally saw my name on the list of passers, I couldn’t hold back my tears. From a dream I once feared I couldn’t reach to a reality I could proudly call mine—finally, I am now a CPA.” For Jeah Amor, becoming a CPA was not only a dream come true but also a calling to serve with purpose. "I chose to pursue CPA because it is my childhood dream and people say there is endless demand for CPAs. Upon becoming one, the profession did not fail me. I already landed a job only days after the results came out at Punongbayan and Arraullo - Grant Thornton." Jeah shared. Beyond her success, she sees her profession as a platform for learning and inspiration. "Now that I am a CPA, I look forward for a life-long learning and growth opportunities in my career while pursuing my purpose in life. I also wanted to take this profession as an avenue to inspire others to pursue great things in life and focus on what lasts - education, faith, relationships, and love for God and His people." Jill Anthonette Tin-ao describes her CPA journey as a test of endurance, hard work, and trust in God’s timing. “What helped me succeed were my purpose, preparation, perseverance, and prayers, especially prayers,” she said. “Even when things became difficult and overwhelming, of course I complained, but I still faced everything and tried to enjoy the process. After the last day of the boards, I prayed for a heart that was ready to accept whatever the results might be. I had a lot of uncertainties, but I did all that I could. Kung ihatag ni Lord, madawat jud na.” Success is never sudden; it is the sum of countless sleepless nights, quiet prayers, and unyielding faith. The road to becoming a Certified Public Accountant is one of the hardest journeys any student can take. For the 46 alumni of the University of Mindanao who passed the October 2025 CPA Licensure Examination, the numbers they solved became more than answers, they became proof of perseverance and purpose. Their triumph is not just a result, but also a reflection of every sacrifice that brought them here. Their achievement goes beyond personal success. The story of these new CPAs stands as proof that education, when nurtured with passion and commitment, can transform dreams into reality.
