The University of Mindanao ranks 47th in the Student Support and Engagement (A1-047) category of the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) assessment among approximately 13,000 case studies evaluated worldwide, highlighting the Universityโ€™s innovative student advising system, as announced on May 7. The recognition was earned through the universityโ€™s Software-based Student Academic Portfolio (SAP), a system designed to strengthen advising mechanisms and provide timely academic interventions for students experiencing learning difficulties. Developed in 2016, the SAP integrates data analytics, continuous monitoring, and adviser-student communication to strengthen academic support for Generation Z learners. An analysis of more than 49,000 student records from 2016 to 2025 showed improved academic performance and institutional resilience. Assistant Dean Devzon U. Porras, CPA, MSA of the College of Accounting Education (CAE), and Assistant Dean Maico Demi B. Aperocho, Ph.D., Ed.D. of the College of Arts and Science Education (CASE) authored the SAP case study submitted to WURI. โ€œThe system also streamlines referrals by allowing advisors to connect students with appropriate university offices for interventions related to academic concerns and student welfare,โ€ Aperocho said. The global recognition reflects the universityโ€™s continued efforts and commitment to innovative education, research-driven solutions, and student welfare initiatives that respond to the evolving demands of higher education. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, the initiative highlights the universityโ€™s dedication to providing inclusive, accessible, and technology-driven learning support systems that promote student success, academic resilience, and lifelong learning opportunities for all. โœ๏ธ Jellian Badilles ๐Ÿ’ป Ria Angela Deocos | College of Accounting Education
