The ISACA Student Group successfully conducted the second part of its Digital Trust Champions Program last March 7, 2026, via Zoom. Following the success of the program’s inaugural session, this seminar focused specifically on the critical nuances of data privacy in the modern era. The event aimed to equip participants with the mindset and tools necessary to navigate the increasingly complex digital landscape while fostering a culture of security and accountability. ​The seminar featured Danny Cheng, DProf, a distinguished expert with over 25 years of experience in IT, information security, and data privacy. Dr. Cheng, who holds prestigious certifications including CISM and CRISC and is a former member of the National Privacy Commission’s Data Privacy Executive Council, shared invaluable insights into the collection, use, and misuse of personal information. His discussion underscored why protecting personal data is not just a technical necessity but a fundamental requirement for building digital trust. ​ Participants engaged in a comprehensive exploration of privacy rights and risk assessment. The session challenged attendees to implement privacy-first practices in their respective fields, emphasizing the role of individual advocacy in safeguarding digital identities. By analyzing real-world scenarios of data misuse, the seminar provided a practical framework for students to understand the impact of privacy on global digital ecosystems. ​The journey toward digital excellence continues as the program transitions from theory to hands-on application. Following this data privacy intensive, the third part of the series—a Mentorship Session—is scheduled for March 21. This upcoming installment will pair student leaders with practicing security professionals for one-on-one guidance, focusing on practical leadership scenarios such as responding to data breaches and securing digital events. ​By providing high-quality, specialized training and bridging the gap between students and industry experts, this initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
