The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) represented the College of Accounting Education at the 2nd UM Interbranch United Nations SDG Students Conference held at the DPT Auditorium of the University of Mindanao on February 19 and 25, 2026. โThe conference theme โLeadership in Motion: UM Students at the Forefront of Sustainable Change" focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically the Five Pillars: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership. โThe JPIA participants together with student leaders from various academic branches participated in the discussion of campus-based sustainability efforts. According to the event agenda, the discussions aimed to examine how student organizations can align their respective disciplines with global development challenges. โThe JPIA delegation included Executive Officers Cyrene Mae Castaรฑarez, Jerich Calinawagan, and Josh Michaenzel Cesumision. Committee members Cherry Terado, Charles Emyrrhson Tabac, and Mar Nicko Ordoรฑo also attended the event. The organization stated that the conference reinforced its commitment to leadership and service. Participants noted the relevance of the SDGs to their academic and professional training. โThe event concluded with a focus on coordinated leadership and partnerships to translate global goals into local action. โThis aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which aims to strengthen collaboration and revitalize partnerships to achieve sustainable development.
