The Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC) 2025 was held at Mintal Gym, Davao City on February 15, 2026, bringing together JPIAns from various schools across Region XI to celebrate leadership, creativity, and teamwork. With 55 participants from the University of Mindanao, the event became a vibrant showcase of talent through competitions such as the 3-on-3 Groove Battle, Mock Interviews, Creative Wear, Mobile Legends, and Adventure: Spoof and Laughs. More than just a series of contests, the convention highlighted students' abilities beyond academics. It provided a dynamic platform for participants to demonstrate confidence, innovation, collaboration, and sportsmanship. The event aimed to promote leadership, stability, and meaningful social development while strengthening camaraderie among JPIAns. According to the JPIA President Ms. Cyrene Castaรฑarez, โI hope that events like RMYC will help foster camaraderie and establish a unified JPIA community.โ She shared that preparations were challenging due to busy schedules and overlapping examinations but emphasized that the primary goal was to showcase the diverse talents and capabilities of every participant.. The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, University of Mindanao Chapter (JPIA-UM) proudly produced several champions and awardees across multiple categories. Kevin Clark Bastan, Ambassador of Goodwill 2026, received Best in Production Number, Best in Creative Wear, and the KSD Gowns Choice Award. Ghizlain Lorbert Mamac, Ambassador of Goodwill 2026 for Culture and Arts, also received the awards for Best in Creative Wear, Best in Mock Interview, Best in Long Gown, and the AVi Glow Choice Award. In performance-based competitions, the Street Cipher teamโNormae Joy Gabutero, Athena Rose Ebol, and Dave Ecoโdelivered a standout performance in the 3-on-3 Groove Battle. The team composed of Eann Johna Betonio, Ethyl Rose Sonico, Christopher Quimpan, Aljheyana Solis, Ariel Mabasa, and Allen Baluarte also impressed in Adventure: Spoof and Laughs. The Syncโd Up: TikTok Groove-Off teamโMoamar Kasan, Precious Zamora, and Zudise Abbasโearned recognition for their dynamic routine, while the COD: The Bullet Rush teamโKent Rey Jaranilla, Trisha Mae Acon, Norlejan Piquit, Alexandria Nicole Abrajano, Vince Delgado, and Bai Johana Kamalโdemonstrated strong teamwork and strategic play. In Valorant Vanguard: Rise of the Agents, Team 2 (Kent Rey Jaranilla, James Sullano, Gem Sevilla, John Feril, and Erwin Eleguen) and Team 1 (Clark Marquez, Christ Pagatpatan, Joshua Campesiรฑo, Melvin Armada, and Reymark Melgar) both demonstrated strategic excellence and teamwork. Meanwhile, Mobile Legends: The Grand Brawl featured strong performances from Team 1 (Walter Casumpo, Alric Tulawie, Regnar Achay, Christopher Sarmiento, Putri Sugadol, and Hans Galatis) and Team 2 (Aated Kirwi Makmun, Vince Cabrera, Gabriel Mondejar, Woodraw Cartagena, Ken Castillo, and Earl Balmes). Additional creative excellence was showcased by the Wandelenes: The City Chronicles teamโFrenz Angel Grace Ballesteros, Jazy Keith Cabrera, Josh Michaenzel Cesumision, and Sweet Greshalle Encantoโand the Screen Shtick: Mock the Music teamโJazy Keith Cabrera, Katrina Claire Aplaca, Sweet Greshalle Encanto, Cris Lawrence Felizardo, Samantha Jade Sanchez, and Christopher James Quimpan. Kate Adlawan also represented the university in Craft 1.4.6. Reflecting on his experience, Ambassador of Goodwill 2026 Kevin Clark Bastan shared that he joined the RMYC because it "brings together different schools to compete, collaborate, and ultimately grow.โ He described stepping out of his comfort zone during the pageantry as one of his most meaningful experiences, which pushed him to think critically, speak confidently, and represent his advocacy and purpose. โItโs not just a title, itโs a commitment to serve and create sustainable impact to the whole Region XI,โ he emphasized. He expressed his desire to promote financial literacy as a tool for empowerment, helping people protect their future, strengthen their communities, and show that leadership and service go hand in hand. The event supports SDG 4 : Quality Education by providing students with meaningful opportunities to grow beyond the classroom. Through public speaking, creative performances, and team-based competitions, participants strengthened their critical thinking, communication skills, and leadership abilities. By cultivating holistic development, RMYC 2025 fostered not only excellence but also a culture of lifelong learning.
